Horizontal Directional Drilling has the unique requirements of good repeatability and accuracy, combined with a small physical diameter.

FOGs have excellent bias stability day-to-day and in-run, and are therefore very suited to drilling guidance for which the equipment is underground and in operation for many days or weeks.

Civitanavi Systems has used it‘s specialist knowledge of FOG coil winding to develop a small diameter product which fulfills these requirements.

The CFA300X product provides repeatable heading roll and pitch information to an accuracy of 0.1 ° SecLat. Continuous rotation is not a problem with Civitanavi’s proprietary RSP “roll stabilisation platform” giving heading stability of <0.02°/hour stability with rotations up to 60 RPM.
